Philanthropy Liaison

Role Overview: The Philanthropy Liaison at Brave serves as the primary point of contact for donors, foundations, and corporate partners, focusing on cultivating, managing, and expanding relationships to secure financial support for the organization’s mission to house homeless veterans.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Donor Cultivation: Identify and engage with potential donors who have an interest in veterans’ issues or housing initiatives. Develop tailored strategies for engaging these individuals or organizations.
  • Relationship Management: Maintain ongoing relationships with current donors, providing them with updates on the impact of their contributions, stewardship activities, and opportunities for further involvement or giving.
  • Fundraising Campaigns: Work with the team to design and execute fundraising campaigns, including annual appeals, major gift solicitations, and special events. Coordinate with marketing for campaign materials and messaging.
  • Grant Stewardship: After grants are awarded, serve as the liaison for reporting back to grantors, ensuring they are informed of the project’s progress, impact, and any challenges. Help in seeking renewals or additional support.
  • Corporate and Foundation Relations: Identify corporate giving programs or foundations with interests aligned with veterans’ services. Propose partnerships or sponsorship opportunities that go beyond financial contributions, like volunteer days or in-kind support.
  • Event Coordination: Participate in or lead the organization of donor appreciation events, galas, or informational sessions that showcase Brave’s work and meet donors.
  • Philanthropic Education: Educate potential and existing donors on the unique needs of homeless veterans, the specifics of Brave’s programs, and how their philanthropy can make a direct impact.
  • Proposal Development: Assist in preparing grant proposals or case statements for major gifts, ensuring they resonate with the donor’s values and priorities.
  • Feedback Loop: Use donor feedback to refine fundraising strategies, ensuring alignment with donor expectations and organizational goals.
  • Database Management: Oversee or contribute to donor databases, ensuring accurate record-keeping of donor interactions, preferences, and giving history.
Qualifications:
  • Experience in philanthropy, fundraising, or development work, preferably within non-profit organizations focused on social services or veterans.
  • Demonstrated success in donor relationship management or fundraising campaigns.
  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills.
Skills:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, adept at creating compelling narratives around philanthropy.
  • Ability to listen and understand donor motivations and concerns.
  • Strategic thinking for long-term relationship building and fundraising planning.
  • Proficiency in CRM software for donor management.
