Role Overview: The Real Estate and Housing Development Expert at Brave is instrumental in identifying, acquiring, developing, and managing properties to provide housing solutions for homeless veterans. This role requires a blend of real estate savvy, development knowledge, and a commitment to veterans’ welfare.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Property Identification and Acquisition: Scout for suitable properties that can be converted into housing for veterans. Negotiate purchases or leases, ensuring cost-effectiveness and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Development Planning: Oversee the planning phase of housing projects, including feasibility studies, zoning compliance, and designing veteran-friendly living spaces. Work with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure projects meet both practical and supportive housing criteria.
  • Project Management: Manage all aspects of housing development projects from inception to completion. This includes budgeting, scheduling, contractor management, and ensuring projects stay on track in terms of time, cost, and quality.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Navigate local, state, and federal housing regulations, building codes, and veterans’ housing standards to ensure all developments are compliant.
  • Partnerships: Develop relationships with local governments, developers, and community organizations to secure support, resources, and possibly co-development opportunities for veteran housing.
  • Funding and Grants: Identify and apply for housing-specific grants or funding aimed at veteran support, ensuring that financial resources are maximized for development projects.
